There are a lot of nasty bits of malware that can affect your computer, like trojans, worms, keyloggers, spyware and adware. The list can seem endless. Fortunately, there are a lot of tools out there designed to protect your PC from the vilest of threats. The Cleaner 2011 is one of them.
The Cleaner 2011 is a small utility that is designed specifically to detect and remove malware from your PC. There are two available scan modes. Smart Scan targets the area on your PC where malware is most likely to hide and is a relatively fast way to perform a quick scan on your computer. Full Scan allows you to pick the specific drives you want scanned. It even has a helpful drag-and-drop feature for you to focus on certain files that you'd particularly like to have checked out.
Apart from scanning, The Cleaner 2011 doesn't have a lot of additional options. There aren't many configuration choices available, and updates are unfortunately not automatic. The Cleaner 2011 does, however, allow you to view a report of all your scans, as well as create a log of all actions performed. The Cleaner 2011 also has a Quarantine and Whitelist area, both of which generally come standard in this type of program.
The Cleaner 2011 is pretty quick in terms of scanning speed, as well as easy to use, but unfortunately, that's where the praise ends. While it isn't a bad program, it doesn't provide enough options or customizable features to really make it competitive with other anti-malware tools in its class. You can't schedule automatic scans, and there are very few functions apart from the most basic and expected.
The Cleaner 2011 gets the job done, but is overall a pretty average anti-malware application.
